How to make a product sticky

This recipe allows you to prepare a special ingredient to create unusual dishes. To complete it, you should take the following components:

  • 300 grams of rice;
  • 450 milliliters of water (may need a little more).

Cooking process

It is important to note one detail. If you do not want to waste time working in the kitchen, you can search in stores for "sushi rice" or "glutinous rice".

One more tip: use short-grain rice when creating a component. Compared to othersvarieties, its structure becomes more sticky. This is due to the greater amount of starch contained in this form.

Important! Grains should not be washed before cooking. It is clear that this is necessary to remove dust and excess starch. However, this element is extremely important when cooking glutinous rice.

If you find it necessary to rinse the cereal before cooking, then you should just rinse it a little a couple of times. But do not use the standard processing technique to clean water.

  • Now you can move on to the actual cooking process. Pour 500 milliliters of water (450 + a few tablespoons) into a large saucepan. This will make the texture of the rice more sticky and lumpy.
  • You can add some s alt to the dishes to improve the taste of the product;
  • Add 300 grams of short grain rice. Put on a strong fire and, without closing the lid, bring to a boil.
  • When the water begins to boil, reduce the heat and cover the pot with a lid, leaving to cook for another 10 minutes.
  • Once the grains have absorbed all the water, turn off the heat and leave the dishes covered for another 10 minutes.

Important! It is worth leaving the product in the pan for as long as possible. Thus, it will become more sticky. The best option is to wait one or two days for maximum effect. In this case, the workpiece must be placed in the refrigerator.

Mango sticky rice recipe

A variant of cooking a rather unusual dish with this ingredient. For its implementationwill need:

  • 300 grams of rice;
  • 500 milliliters of water;
  • 450 milliliters of coconut milk;
  • 250 grams of powdered sugar;
  • 30 grams of potato or corn starch;
  • 3 mangoes;
  • half tsp s alt.

First you need to prepare rice. This is done according to the same scheme that was given earlier:

  • Bring half a liter of water to a boil in a large saucepan.
  • Add 300 gr. rice with short grains. Continue cooking for 20 minutes. Then turn down the fire. Make sure the water doesn't run away.
  • Once all the liquid has been absorbed, remove the glutinous rice from the heat.

Now you can start cooking the rest of the ingredients.

  • In a separate saucepan combine 340 milliliters of coconut milk, 230 gr. powdered sugar and half a teaspoon of s alt. Mix everything properly.
  • Place the pan on the stove. Set the heat to medium and bring the mixture to a boil. Continue stirring to avoid lumps.
  • Pour the prepared dressing into the rice bowl. Mix everything with a spatula. If it is missing, you can use a fork.

  • Leave to infuse for an hour to soak the grains with the mixture.
  • Next, in a smaller saucepan, mix 110 milliliters of coconut milk, 30 gr. starch, 20 gr. sugar and half a teaspoon of s alt.
  • Allmix well with a spoon.
  • Bring the sauce to a boil over medium heat. Stir all the time to avoid lumps.

Now you need to prepare the mango:

  • Peel it from the skin and get the bone, cutting the fruit into two halves.
  • Cut both parts into thin pieces.
  • Repeat the algorithm with the rest of the mangoes.
  • Spread glutinous rice with coconut milk on plates.
  • Add mango slices. Can be side or top. In the latter case, it is better to make a fan shape.
  • Dip each serving with the prepared coconut milk and starch sauce.
  • Sprinkle everything with sesame seeds.

Attention! If you use regular rice, the consistency of the dish will be different.

How to make glutinous rice to make sushi

Rice prepared in this way can be used to create many famous Asian dishes. For example:

  • sushi;
  • nigiri;
  • bento;
  • sashimi.

However, only short grain rice should be used.

To prepare the ingredient you need the following:

  • 300 grams of rice;
  • 450 milliliters of water;
  • 60 ml rice vinegar;
  • two art. l. powdered sugar;
  • 1 tsp s alt.

Cooking

  • Fill a large saucepan with 450 milliliters of water. Season with s alt and bring to a boil.
  • Pour into boiling liquid 300 gr. rice with short grains.
  • Close the dish with a lid. Reduce fire to minimum andcook for 15 minutes.

Important! After adding the cereal, the water will stop boiling. Put the lid on only when the process resumes.

  • Cook the contents until all the liquid is absorbed into the grains.
  • In a separate smaller saucepan, combine 60 milliliters of rice vinegar, 40 grams of powdered sugar and a teaspoon of s alt. Mix everything.
  • Place the sauce on the stove. Set heat to medium and stir until sugar is completely dissolved. This component will make rice sticky, as in the original recipes.
  • After that, remove the dishes from the stove and cool the contents.
  • Put the cooked rice into a separate bowl (preferably glass).

Attention! At this stage, it is strictly forbidden to use metal utensils. Otherwise, the vinegar will take on the appropriate aftertaste.

  • Pour the previously prepared sauce into the dishes. The amount of additive added depends on the desired level of taste. The less, the less strong the flavor will be.
  • Stir the combined components with a plastic or wooden spatula. The whole process is recommended to be done under a hood so that the rice cools faster.
  • Serve the dish fresh. But it is better if it is slightly cooled, not hot.
