Just a couple of years ago, you might have accidentally sampled a sparkling wine-bitter cocktail (it could be Aperol or Campari) at someone's weekend party. Now it has gained real popularity and has become one of the most trendy summer youth cocktails in the world. The drink of summer 2013 is firmly on its way to the title of "World Aperitif", and its name is the Syringe-Aperol cocktail, the recipe of which we will now find out.
Cocktails in brief
Today it is impossible to imagine any fashionable party, presentation, gala dinner, official reception without all kinds of cocktails that will please everyone's tastes. A cocktail is an alcoholic drink based on one or more alcoholic components. Cocktails today are becoming more and more famous and popular, some of them are becoming moremore recognizable. In the 20s of the twentieth century, Prohibition was proclaimed in the United States, and it was then that alcoholic cocktails gained real fame among lovers of alcoholic beverages. Trying to hide the taste of alcohol, they mixed various drinks with degrees, most often adding sugar syrup, lemon juice to gin, sometimes the second alcoholic component was, for example, sparkling dry wine. Drinks became more and more popular, and so more and more new cocktails were invented. Fashion for them quickly spread to Europe. In Paris, London, Venice, one could taste the classic popular cocktail of that time in a hotel or bar, or at a "cocktail party", which were already becoming popular with young people at that time.
Cocktail "Aperol Syringe"
"Aperol" is an Italian aperitif that has been around for a long time. As they say, everything new is a well-forgotten old, and recently it has been rediscovered by bartenders. The bright orange color is pleasing to the eye, and the name of the cocktail comes from it, but the syringe, most likely, means "splash". "Aperol syringe" has a unique taste, thanks to a secret recipe with infusions of selected ingredients, including bitter and sweet oranges, and many other herbs (including rhubarb) and roots. The Aperol Syringe is slightly alcoholic, but only 11 percent alcoholic, so goes well with other liquors.
History of Creation
Orange liqueur wasinvented back in 1919 by the Barbieri brothers in the city of Padua. Originally developed for he alth and appetite awakening, after meals - to improve digestion. "Aperol" is sweeter and with a lower alcohol content - only 11 percent. Herbal bitterness (gentian, rhubarb), bitter and sweet oranges, spices perfectly matched the "syringes" cocktails famous at the beginning of the last century, which included local wine and non-alcoholic tonic. As a result of this, the "Aperol-syringe" appeared - tart, tonic and refreshing. In those years, the town was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was the Austrians who came up with the idea of diluting Venetian wines with soda, so Austria is also related to the origin " Aperol", at least, disputes about this are still ongoing.
Cooking recipe
There are numerous local variations of the cocktail, and every bartender has their own recipe. The ingredients must be sufficiently chilled, usually dry white wine (Prosecco or sparkling) and sparkling water (40% wine, 30% water and 30% aperitif).
The last 30% can be changed according to the taste of the bartender. The decoration is an orange slice and possibly an olive. These are the classic proportions of the Aperol Syringe cocktail, the recipe of which you can learn and try in Verona and Venice. The bartender pours a handful of ice into a glass, then half fills it with wine, adds soda on top and generously pours everything with an aperitif - from the heart and as much as you like, garnish with a slice of orange and an olive to taste. Serve "Aperol-syringe" in wide glasses, ice is also added. Of course, you can use Campari instead of Aperol, but you get a stronger cocktail of rich dark red color, and its taste will be more bitter. To get a real and real taste, it is advised to use a classic aperitif. So the drink will have a sweeter and spicier taste, and you will get a true Aperol syringe. Served with classic Italian appetizers.
