The easiest way

Even if we pickle onions for salad using vinegar, it should not be done so roughly. You can’t just pour them on a chopped onion and decide that the job is done. In half a glass of very hot but not boiling waterdissolve a teaspoon of sugar and a pinch of s alt. Vinegar is added to them in the amount of three large spoons, and only after the marinade is the onion chopped at your discretion covered. Keep it in the marinade for no longer than 10 minutes, otherwise you will get acetic acid instead of onion bitterness.

A very exotic seasoning is obtained when we pickle onions for salad in pomegranate juice. It will not take so much - half a glass for four very large heads. For a successful experiment, we observe two conditions: firstly, we take natural, not sweetened juice, and secondly, we keep the vegetable in it for three hours.

Lemon juice plus olive oil

If you think that the exotic will not go well with the main background of your dish, pickle the vegetable in a neutral, but very gentle mixture. Instant way

Some housewives, in order to rid the onion of bitterness and smell, soak it in boiling water or at least scald it. However, in this case, the onion turns out to be boiled rather than pickled. If you are in a hurry, do this: douse the rings with boiling water, then soak them for three minutes in lemon juice. In principle, it is enough even to sprinkle the onion with lemon - it will marinate anyway.

Mustard marinade

Very suitable,when we marinate onions for sweet varieties of salad. Spicy mustard (3 tablespoons) is mixed with s alt, marjoram, pepper and the same amount of vegetable oil. All this is mixed with onions marinated according to any of the recipes and seasoned with light mayonnaise.
