The way to prepare them is very simple. But first, make sure you have edible chestnuts in front of you. If you collect them in November, then their green shell is more like a hedgehog, and several nucleoli are hidden in this box. And when you buy them, make sure their shape is a bit like an onion and has a smooth edge. Edible roasted chestnuts taste sweet, while horse chestnuts taste bitter.

These delicious kernels can be boiled, baked, fried. But whatever you do with themyou must first break the integrity of their brown glossy shell. Since during the heat treatment, the juice inside the kernel turns into steam, and the nut can explode in the most unexpected way, flying out of the pan. And you can cook roasted chestnut in an ordinary pan (but not Teflon). There is no need to consume any fat.

So, cut each fruit crosswise to pierce the peel. Fill the bottom of the pan with chestnuts. It is advisable to lay them with cuts up, but this is not important. We level with a single layer. Cover with paper towels soaked in plenty of water. We put on medium fire. We cover it with a lid for safety, since some kind of roasted chestnut is sure to explode. Stir the kernels from time to time. We also make sure that the napkins remain moist - as needed, sprinkle them with water. If this is not done, the nucleoli will be too hard. These nuts are fried for about twenty minutes. By that time, their peel will be charred, the visible nucleoli will be browned, and the smell will spread amazingly around the apartment.

You can eat roasted chestnut as a solo, or include it in other dishes. The sweetish taste of the nucleoli makes it possible to prepare desserts from them, but they are also good in sauces and as a filling for meat - turkey, chicken, rabbit, pork. And as a street food, chestnuts are only good when they are hot. As they cool, they lose their flavor and become dry and tasteless.
