As the name suggests, this dish belongs to Czech cuisine. One of the features of this cuisine is the skillful preparation of meat dishes, and spices are of great importance. Such a dish as the Prague salad is almost a landmark; it is known and famous in many countries no less than Czech beer. Czech cuisine cannot be called the most suitable for vegetarians, but lovers of a good and hearty meal will like it. Those who visited the Czech Republic were lucky to see an amazing and beautiful country with a high culture and a special flavor of local cafes, where you can try the notorious Prague salad.
There are many options for its preparation: meat ingredients are replaced with chicken, turkey, etc. First, let's look at the classic Prague salad. The traditional version of this snack is made from veal and pork, which are taken in equal parts.
Salad Ingredients:
- s alted cucumbers - two pieces;
- veal - gram 200;
- pork - gram 200;
- apple - one piece;
- lettuce, parsley and dill;
- onion - 1 piece;
- lemon juice - one tablespoon;
- vegetable oil;
- s alt;
- ground pepper, nutmeg, coriander;
- mayonnaise - 4 tablespoons.
We take peeled cucumbers and an apple, cut them into strips. We cut the onion in half rings. We take veal and pork meat by weight in equal proportions and wash thoroughly. If you want to get softer and more flavorful meat, then you should hold it in a marinade made from nutmeg, mustard and coriander before frying. For the marinade, add a little nutmeg and coriander to the mustard, stir it all, put the meat in it and put it in the refrigerator for a couple of hours.
Marinated meat should be cut, preferably into strips, then fried in vegetable oil. We remove the finished meat to cool. Sliced onion should be fried a little, and mayonnaise mixed with lemon juice.
The dish on which we will place our salad, first we coverlettuce leaves. And already on them we lay out all the previously prepared ingredients in layers, lubricating each layer with a sauce consisting of lemon juice and mayonnaise. You can choose the order of the layout of the layers at your discretion. Before serving, we advise you to decorate the dish with greens on top.
For a change, you can make a Prague salad with bell peppers. Here, to all the previously listed ingredients, only Bulgarian pepper is added.
And for those people who prefer chicken meat to all other types, Prague salad with chicken is perfect. This time, instead of veal and pork, we take half a kilogram of chicken breasts. Boil them in s alted water, cool and cut into strips. Then one pickled cucumber, two medium onions, one apple and two sweet peppers are also cut into strips. All ingredients are laid out in layers and smeared with mayonnaise or sour cream.
