It is impossible to travel around the UK and not get acquainted with the culinary traditions of this country. And English desserts are rightfully considered an integral part of them. The next English dessert is believed to have been invented in 1884 in honor of the marriage of Queen Victoria's granddaughter, Victoria of Hesse-Darmstadt, to the German prince Ludwig of Battenberg. But despite centuries of history in England, it remains popular to this day.

  3. For a layer, you can use only strawberry jam or add whipped cream to it. Can iprepare a thicker cream. To do this, beat 340 g of cold curd cheese with powdered sugar (100 g) and soft butter (110 g). After 5 minutes of the mixer, the cream will be ready.
  4. When assembling the cake, the first biscuit cake is smeared with jam, then a thick layer of cream is applied and pieces of strawberries are laid out. Top with a second cake. It is layered in the same way as the first. Decorate with whole berries.

Another classic English dessert is prepared in the form of a share from simple and affordable ingredients. One of its advantages is that it is prepared without baking, that is, without using the oven.

The dessert recipe includes the following steps:

  1. Shortbread cookies (170 g) grind into crumbs. Combine it with melted butter (100 g) and grind to get a mass that resembles wet sand.
  2. Put the resulting dough into a mold, forming a cake with sides. It is recommended to tamp the crumbs with the flat side of the glass. Send the cake to the refrigerator.
  3. Cook caramel from 200 g of sugar and 50 g of water. Then remove the saucepan from the heat and add 80 g of cold butter and 125 ml of cream to it. Shuffle.
  4. Pour the resulting caramel sauce on top of the cake. It can also be replaced with boiled condensed milk.
  5. Put sliced bananas (2 pcs.) on top of the caramel. Cover them with a layer of cream based on curd cheese (100 g) and whipped cream with a fat content of 35% (100 g).

The next dessert on the English menu has a very unusual name. Why exactly Dick, no one can say. But the word "spotted" is explained by the presence of a large number of dried fruits inside, in particular raisins and dried apricots.

Dessert recipe is quite laborious, but this does not mean that it cannot be prepared at home. The whole process consists of the following steps:

  1. Mix 120 g each of flour, breadcrumbs and sugar.
  2. Grate cold butter (120 g). Combine it with the flour mixture.
  3. Add egg, finely chopped dried apricots and raisins. Grate 2 tbsp ginger root, ¼ tsp nutmeg and orange zest here as well.
  4. Last of all, pour 140 ml of milk into the dough and add a pinch of s alt. Mix the mass and put it in a heat-resistant form. From above, tighten it with foil.
  5. Place the mold with the dough inside the pan, half filled with hot water. Cover it with a lid and put it on the stove.
  6. Bring water in a saucepan to a boil, then reduce to a minimum.
  7. Cook dessert for 3 hours. During cooking, make sure that water from the pan does not get into the form with the dough.
  8. Hot dessert generously sprinkle with honey or maple syrup. Serve with warm custard or whipped cream.

Sticky toffee pudding

This popular national English dessert resembles a cross between a cake and a pudding. It is prepared from date dough with the obligatory addition of caramelsauce. The name of the dessert literally translates from English as “sticky toffee.”

In the UK it is customary to cook it this way:

  1. Pitted dates (200 g) cut into small pieces, put in a saucepan and pour 300 ml of water. Bring to a boil and immediately add 1 teaspoon of baking soda. The mixture will foam. Next, the dates need to be cooked for another 10 minutes over medium heat.
  2. Beat 100 g of butter with brown sugar (150 g) and vanilla with a mixer.
  3. Add 2 eggs. Add them one at a time to the oil mixture, beating the mixture well each time.
  4. Sift 150 g flour with baking powder (½ tsp).
  5. Pour boiled dates with water into the same mass. The dough should be very liquid. It must be poured into a mold and placed in a preheated oven (180 °) for 30 minutes.
  6. Pour the finished dessert with caramel sauce.

The English dessert recipe consists of the following steps:

  1. Knead shortbread dough. To do this, grate 180 g of very cold butter on a coarse grater or chop with a knife.
  2. Combine it with flour (110g) and sugar (90g).
  3. Quickly knead the dough. Gather into a ball, wrap in cling film and flatten. Then the dough will cool faster. To do this, put it in the freezer for 30 minutes.
  4. Apples (3 pcs.) peel and seeds and cut into thin slices. Mix slices with sugar (150g) and flour (25g).

  3. Meanwhile prepare the cream. Melt butter (125 g). Add to it 115 g of sugar and chopped almonds (120 g),mix. Then add 3 eggs. At the very end, add vanilla and almond essence (optional).
  4. Put a thin layer of strawberry jam inside the cooled cake, pour cream over it and garnish with almond petals.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes. When completely cooled, cut into portions.

This popular British dessert is known and loved all over the world. Translated from English, its name means "trifle" or "trifle", which indicates the simplicity of preparing the dish.   3. Prepare the custard. To do this, grind 5 yolks with 100 gsugar and 50 g of cornstarch. Add 500 ml of hot milk to this mixture. Pour it into a saucepan. On low heat and with constant stirring, cook the cream. Then pour it into a separate bowl, cool and combine with cream (125 ml) whipped with powdered sugar (15 g).
  4. In glasses or glasses put alternately a biscuit soaked in strawberry syrup and berries cut into slices. Drizzle each layer generously with custard. There is not enough of it in this dessert.
