The brand name is the name of the founder of the distillery, who launched production in 1875 in a town called Lynchburg. From the history of Jack Daniels whiskey

I must say that the very first brand of American whiskey was produced just by a distillery in Tennessee. Whiskey "Jack Daniels" is thus the very first American brand among similar products, and the distillery is the oldest in the United States, at least among legal ones.

Initially, the drink was poured not into bottles, but into jugs - this practice was common at that time. Instead of a label, the name of the whiskey was applied to the walls of the jug using a stencil. Bottles replaced ceramics only in 1870 and had a quite standard round shape for that time. Although the inscription has already begun to be made in relief. The design of the square bottle of Jack Daniels that everyone knows today appeared in 1895. Since then, it has remained unchanged. In 1904, Jack Daniels whiskey won the gold medal in an international competition. It was the only drink that received such a high award. This version was called Jack Daniel's Old No. 7. Since 1988, a modified version has also been produced, obtained using double filtration. In other words, the finished whiskey, after four years of aging, goes through the carbon filtration process again, which makes it especially soft on the palate. This drink is the pride of the Tennessee plant.
