How to make thick apple jam
The recipe for apple jam is simple: cut three kilograms of apples into quarters and remove the core. Put in a wide saucepan and pour a small amount of water, boil for no more than ten minutes. As soon as the apples become soft, drain the water and rub the fruit through a sieve.
You can also puree with a blender - it's faster, but the jam may come across small pieces of skin that do not need to be removed during cooking, because it contains the most useful substances, as well as pectin, which makes apple jam thicker. Next, add 2 kg of granulated sugar to the mass, mix and put it back on the stove, and when it boils, reduce the heat to a minimum. Cook, stirring until the desired thickness, making sure that the jam does not burn. It is for this reason that some housewives put the pot with the future jam in the oven - it definitely does not burn there, but this is inconvenient if a large amount of the product is cooked at a time.

Also, apple jam can be prepared by grating the same number of apples on a coarse grater, sprinkle with sugar (per 1 kg of apples - 650gram of sugar) and leave for a couple of hours so that the fruit mass releases juice. Next, put the pan on the stove (it is better if it is with a thick bottom) and cook, stirring, until the desired density. Jam according to this recipe can be prepared in several approaches: let it boil for 15-20 minutes, then turn it off and leave it under the lid overnight, and continue the next day. This method makes the finished jam more fragrant and thick.
If the product is prepared for the future, then it must be laid out still hot in clean, sterilized jars and tightly rolled up with tin lids using a special machine, then at any time of the year it will be possible to open the jar and prepare a delicious jam pie for home tea drinking.
Pie with apple jam
A cake with a cup of tea or milk is very homely, and it is unlikely that anyone will refuse such a delicacy, especially if it is homemade.
Easiest apple jam pie recipe:
- 800 grams of ready-made frozen dough: you can take yeast or puff - whichever you prefer. Defrost and divide into two parts. We roll out one according to the size of the baking dish, and the second just in a thin layer.
- Line the bottom of the mold with dough, be sure to form sides about three centimeters high. It is very convenient in such cases to use a detachable form - then there will be no problems with removing the finished cake.
- Distribute on the surface of the dough in the form500 grams of apple jam in an even layer.
- From the remaining dough with a figured knife, cut out strips one cm wide and lay them on the cake with a lattice (at a right angle) or a mesh (diagonally) at a small distance from each other.
- Lubricate the top of the pie with a beaten egg and send it to the oven, heated to 200-220 degrees and bake until done. Already cooled, cut into portions.
This kind of cake (from any dough) is prepared in just half an hour, but it is incredibly tasty, especially with fresh milk.

For its preparation, ordinary shortbread dough is prepared (each housewife has a recipe), then it is divided into two equal parts: one part is frozen in the refrigerator, the other is rolled out to the size of a baking dish. We cover it with a layer of apple jam mixed with a glass of chopped nuts, and on top, using a grater with large holes, rub the frozen dough, also covering the jam in an even layer. Sprinkle the top of the pie with another half cup of walnuts and send it to bake. The cake is baked in the oven at a standard temperature of 200 degrees until cooked and before serving, but after cooling, cut into pretty squares.
