Many beer lovers sooner or later become interested in how to make beer at home? Make no mistake, this is a very simple and fun process that will allow you to enjoy your favorite drink all year round. Pasteurization technologies have been omitted from the recipe to create a true “drink of the gods.”

Many people believe that in order to get a quality drink, you definitely need to have professional installations at your disposal. Also, ads about mini-breweries with a ready-made concentrate for a drink are gaining popularity on the Web, which only needs to be diluted with water. Of course, this requires significant amounts.
However, brewing beer at home is by no means a difficult task, everything can be done using items that are in almost every home. Some of them can be easilyDIY.
You will need to buy hops, m alt and brewer's yeast. Of course, you can grow m alt and hops on your own, but it’s better not to risk it with yeast. The taste of the future drink depends on their quality.
What ingredients do you need?
We will need the following components:
- 27 liters of quality water;
- 3 kilos of barley m alt;
- 25 grams of brewer's yeast;
- 45 grams of hops with 4.5% acidity;
- 8 grams of sugar per liter of drink (this is needed to enrich it with carbon dioxide).
What equipment do you need?
- 30 liter enameled or stainless steel container, inside which the mash will be prepared.
- Fermentation vessel.
- Thermometer – after all, for a quality result, you need to constantly monitor the temperature of the drink.
- Tube to remove excess sediment.
- Glass or plastic bottles.
- Ice water tank or special wort cooler.
- 3 to 5 meters of gauze or a bag of natural material.
- A device to determine the sugar content of the wort (but not required).
- Iodine and a white plate (optional).
Preparation process
Now let's move on to how to make beer at home. It must be understood that the creation of a quality drink is somewhat reminiscent of a surgical operation: sterility should always be maximum. Wash thoroughly before starting workall equipment, dry it, wash your hands with soap and dry. With dirt on your equipment or your hands, you're bound to introduce wild yeast into the wort, turning your drink into a homebrew.
Water is also a key ingredient. Spring water is the best choice, but if this is not available, use bottled or tap water. In order for tap water to become acceptable for brewing, it must be defended in an open container for two days. During this period of time, all bleach will disappear, and all excess particles will settle at the bottom. Using a tube, pour all the water into a sterile, cleaned container.
Yeast must be diluted with warm water before being put into the wort.
Wort making
The next ingredient in a homemade beer recipe is wort. If you purchased whole m alt, then first you need to carefully grind it to the desired consistency. You can use an electric or mechanical meat grinder. It is important to note that m alt should never be ground into flour.
Once you get the m alt you need, pour it into a natural cloth bag. Pour 25 liters of water into a container and heat it to 80°C.
Place a bag of m alt inside and boil it for 1.5 hours, keeping the temperature between 61-72 °C. If you want to get beer at home with a high strength, then you should brew m alt at a temperature of 61-63 ° C, so it releases sugar better. A temperature of 68-72 ° C increases the density of the mash, and beerwon't be too strong. If you maintain the temperature at around 65-72 ° C, you will get an excellent result and a drink with a strength of 4%.
If you already have experience of how to brew beer at home, then you can not deal with determining the amount of starch in the wort. However, beginners should do this procedure after 90 minutes of cooking.
Drop a few milligrams of m alt on a white plate and add a couple of drops of iodine. If it has changed its color, then the wort should be boiled for about a quarter of an hour. If the color hasn't changed, your m alt is ready!
Once you have determined that the mash has the right consistency, you need to raise the temperature to 78-80 ° C and cook it for about 5 minutes. Then remove the bag and rinse it with boiled water brought to a temperature of 78 ° C. The resulting water must be poured into a decoction. The presented component for making beer at home allows you to completely do without filtering the mash, so you do not need to buy expensive filters and pour the wort from tank to tank several times. Also remember: the more often you pour future beer, the worse the final quality will be.

Starting to boil the mash
Braga must be brought to a boil and add the first part of the hops, 15 grams. After half an hour of such a boil, you need to add 15 grams of hops again. In this state, the mash is cooked for the next 40 minutes, after which you need to add another 15 gramshops and boil the drink for 20 minutes. Of course, there are several methods for how to brew beer at home, and you can choose any that is easier for you to use. The process of intense boiling of the mash lasts about 1.5 hours, while it should gurgle, and not just languish on the fire.
Start to cool the mash
The resulting "brew" should be cooled very quickly, no more than 30 minutes, to a temperature of 24-26 degrees. The sooner this happens, the less likely the drink will be contaminated with wild yeast or fermentation-damaging bacteria.
To cool the mash in a short period, you can use two methods:
- use special cooler,
- just place the container in very cold water.
The only thing that is important during this process is to follow safety precautions: remove foreign objects from the road that you can stumble on, warn everyone at home about it.
As soon as the wort reaches the required temperature, it must be poured into the fermentation apparatus. In order for oxygen to form in the wort, which almost all came out during boiling, it is recommended to pour the mash 3 times from the tank and back.
Fermentation begins
Special yeast must be carefully diluted and slowly added to the mash, constantly stirring the wort at this time. On sale there are bottom and top fermenting yeasts. The former operate in temperatureconditions from 5 to 16 °С, the second - from 18 to 22 °С. Our equipment for beer at home should be carefully transferred to a dark place with the necessary temperature conditions, a water seal should be placed and the wort should ferment for 7-10 days.
In a few hours you will be able to see the process of active fermentation, which will last about 3 days. During this time, gases will actively exit the mash through the water seal, and after that carbon dioxide will exit a little more slowly. At the very end, the drink will get a light shade. You can check the readiness with a water seal or a saccharometer.
Not everyone has a sugar meter at home, so you can navigate by the water seal. If within 18-24 hours you do not notice signs of bubbles in the wort, then you can proceed to the next step of a simple recipe for beer at home.
Corking the drink
As mentioned earlier, every step of creating a drink is extremely important. Even something as simple as capping a beer can be detrimental to the quality of a product. According to our simple homemade beer recipe, you need to add 8 grams of sugar per liter to each bottle. This saturates the beer with carbon dioxide, which forms the foam and makes the drink taste much better.
Next, you need to drain the product from the sediment using a straw. It is important to understand that the other end of the straw should be placed directly on the bottom of the bottle so that the beer has minimal contact with air. Also, do not touch the yeast at the bottom of the tube, so as not to spoil the shade of the drink. You don't need a bottleadd beer about 2 centimeters to the neck, after which you need to tightly clog the hole.
The easiest way to pour beer into plastic containers, because they are the easiest to clog. However, in a glass container, the drink will taste better. But in this case, you will need to get special plugs so that air does not penetrate inside and carbon dioxide does not go outside.
Almost finished beer at home should be placed in a dark and cool place with a temperature in the range of 20-24 ° C for 15-20 days. Once every 7 days you need to take a bottle and shake it vigorously. After the specified period, the beer will be completely ready for drinking. Keep it in a cool place.
You can already drink beer. However, if you wait another month, the drink will become more palatable. Beer is stored at home in a cool place for 8 months. And an open container - no more than 3 days.
Snacks for beer at home
Most often, beer is drunk in a large company, and purchased chips or crackers do not last long. If a simple beer is already ready at home, then why not try making an appetizer for it. Moreover, it will be more tasty and economical. It will turn out a very large portion, which means that there will be enough for the whole company. You can cook a wide variety of treats: meat, cheese and even vegetables. All it takes is some free time and imagination.

- 500 grams of potatoes;
