The Myskhako winery has a long tradition that dates back to Antiquity. Being one of the oldest domestic productions, it pleases its fans with natural high-quality products. The line is represented by cuvée wines, as well as semi-dry, dry and semi-sweet varieties, which are available for any budget.
History of the winery "Myskhako"
This name was given to the wine "Myskhako" in honor of the estate of the same name. The opinion of linguists regarding the origin of the term diverges. Some believe that it is translated as "dolphin cape", others - as "valley of elms". The winery has an ancient tradition. Ever since Antiquity, the Greek population of the region has been growing grapes, carefully selecting the best varieties for wine production. Echoes of that era still reach us as archaeological finds, namely amphoras with grape seeds.
Further fall of Byzantium and Turkish rule on the Black Sea led to the destruction of viticultureas an entire industry, because the followers of Islam should not drink alcoholic beverages. The culture of winemaking gradually began to revive only during the reign of the Russian Empire. In the second half of the 19th century, the doctor Mikhail Penchul, appointed as the trustee of the Black Sea region, ordered the restoration of vineyards and the production of Myskhako wine. The undertaking was a success, and the products of the winery over time began to be considered the best in the entire Black Sea region.
The winery continued to exist during the Soviet period. During the Second World War, Brezhnev's headquarters was located here. After the end of the war, production began to expand. By the 70s, the plant acquired its own tasting room and gained the status of a favorite place for the party elite.
The 21st century turned out to be a rather ambiguous period for the Myskhako estate. At the beginning of the century, the winery received the title of the official supplier of the Kremlin, but could not cope with the subsequent deterioration of the economic situation and was forced to temporarily close. However, the assistance of investors allowed the Myskhako wines to revive by the end of 2017. The new line of products is produced under the strict control of Sergey Dubovik, a well-known winemaker in narrow circles. In 2019, the Myskhako winery will celebrate its 150th anniversary.
