In a certainThe world owes the appearance of the cake to Klemens von Metternich, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was not averse to tasting something unique, unusual. On the eve of the next event, which was accompanied by the arrival of high-ranking guests, he gave the task to his chef: to prepare a dessert that everyone would like without exception. The cook accepted and understood the order, but since he was ill, he gave this order to his young student - the same Franz Sacher, who at that time (1832) was all 16 years old. Naturally, he was very excited, worried that the boy would not cope. However, all these worries turned out to be empty. Although everyone forgot about the dessert, that evening the guests and the minister liked it.

Then the cake was forgotten, and after a while Franz left Vienna altogether. He continued to improve as a chef already in Bratislava and Budapest. Sacher returned to his homeland only in 1848. He opened a wine and delicatessen shop, and he lived in peace. And the famous Viennese cake, which was forgotten for a long time, gained popularity only when the recipe was improved by Franz's son, Eduard. Then he studied at the eminent Demel confectionery. Actually, with her in the future there were “sweet wars” at the Sacher cafe. The fact is that in 1876 Edward bought a building in the Renaissance style, in which he opened a hotel. Under him, a cafe was later opened. So, in this institution they began to serve the famous Sacher cake.

The conflict between the two pastry shops came to a head in 1938. Demel believed that there should be only one place in Vienna that serves the original cake. "Sacher"they answered that they have the right to do so, since the dessert is served in the author's own cafe. But "Demel" did not calm down: they argued that since Eduard studied with them, he owes it to this confectionery, since otherwise there would be no cake. The trial took place only in 1954 and lasted seven years. As a result, it was decided that the Hotel Sacher and the cafe of the same name located in its building will sell a cake decorated with a round chocolate emblem with the inscription "Original Sacher Cake". And in the Demel confectionery - a dessert with a chocolate triangular seal, prepared according to Eduard's recipe, but with the inscription Eduard-Sacher-Torte.

Every person who visited this restaurant was satisfied with everything, from the service to the quality of the products offered in the cafe and the shop hall. The only negative, which, according to the "children of the USSR", can be easily overcome - the queues. They line up on the street. But you don’t have to wait long - about 10-15 minutes. And another disadvantage is the relatively high prices. Not every person can afford to spend that kind of money on a dessert with coffee. On the other hand, Vienna as a whole cannot be called a cheap city. So, if you are already going to visit the capital of Austria, save up as much money as possible so that laterdo not regret that it was not possible to go somewhere and try something. After all, we have only one life.
