To make pear wine at home, you will need the following ingredients: 10 kg of fruit, 5 kg of sugar and 10 liters of water. First, about pears. Fruits can belong to the same or different varieties. This, of course, affects the taste of the future drink, because it retains the aroma of the fruit. Therefore, oddly enough, many winemakers prefer to use wild pears as raw materials.
They are very sweet, with a rich aroma, which provides the wine with a wonderful smell and taste. Fruits should be washed well under running water, cleaned from the core and stalks.
A separate topic is water. It is wonderful if it is from a well or a spring. It is rare that tap water is suitable for making pear wine at home. Therefore, tap water must first be purified. You can rely on modern filters. Or you can freeze tap water and purify it in this way.
Dishes in which pear wine will “play” should be either glass or wooden. If glass, then usually it is a bottle (at least 20 liters), if wood, thenbarrel.
You can also use plastic utensils, just make sure it's food grade.
Now about the process itself. Sugar must be completely dissolved in water. Pour the pears cut into thin slices into a bowl with our sweet liquid, which will soon turn into home-made pear wine. If the bottle is not full, it is allowed to refill it with clean water.
Next, we leave the future wine to "play" in a dark, warm place. Before this, the dishes must be hermetically sealed so that air does not enter it. Otherwise, instead of delicious sweet wine, we risk getting sour vinegar. For tightness, you can use a rubber glove that is worn, for example, on the neck of a can. But better (more reliable) is a water seal. This is a special cork made of plastic or wood, from which the tube comes out. It must be lowered into a container of water. When bubbles stop forming on it, the wine has stopped fermenting, which means it is ready to drink. The glove will tell you that pear wine is ready at home - it will deflate.
Ready drink carefully, so as not to spoil the sediment, bottled. They need to be sterilized first. We close it with corks and send it to the basement, cellar or any other cool place. In urban areas, you can also use a refrigerator. Just make sure that the temperature in it does not fall to minus. Bottles must lie in a horizontal position for at leastmonth. Better two. In general, in order to make high-quality wine at home, you need to let it brew well. Then it gets a really rich and warm taste.
Pear wine tastes like apple wine, only it is sweeter and more honeyed. You can add lemon juice, cinnamon, mint or other ingredients to it. They will allow you to take a fresh look at its taste and aroma. Pear wine is also an excellent base for alcoholic cocktails, which can also be easily prepared at home. But that's another story.
