Easy Hot Sandwich Recipe
Recipes for lavash sandwiches are becoming more and more every year, but the most delicious of them, of course, are hot, that is, fried in a pan, in the oven or in the microwave. The principle of cooking for all is almost identical, only the filling and the method of molding change.
The most common step-by-step variant looks like this:
- Prepare the filling to taste.
- Spread the Armenian lavash on the table and cut it into four squares.
- Spread each part with sauce, spread the filling over the area in layers, if desired, additionally pour sauce or mustard and roll up an envelope.
- Fry onfrying pan in a small amount of oil or send for two minutes in the microwave. You can also put sandwiches on a baking sheet, sprinkle with grated cheese and bake in the oven for 8 - 10 minutes.
You can also spread the filling evenly over the entire area of lavash and fold it four times, like a sheet of paper. Place the resulting squares in the oven for 4 - 8 minutes so that the cheese melts and the pita bread is slightly browned. Ready-made sandwiches cut into smaller squares for ease of use.
Another cooking option
There is another good way to make hot lavash sandwiches in a pan. To do this, for each square of pita bread, in addition to the basic filling, you will need one raw egg. Preheat the pan with 1 - 2 tbsp. spoons of oil, put an unfolded square of pita bread on it, put the filling of sausage, minced meat in the center, add a few leaves of fresh spinach, carefully beat the egg on top and sprinkle generously with grated cheese.
Further, bending the edges to the center, form a closed square, let it brown a little and turn over with a spatula to the other side. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer the sandwich for two minutes over low heat. The egg will be baked inside, and the melted cheese will firmly glue the pita bread with the filling. It is incredibly tasty even when cold, but with piping heat, such lavash sandwiches scatter in the blink of an eye!
What toppings can I make?
Most often, lavash sandwiches are stuffed with the following filling:
- 200 eachgrams of salami and hard cheese;
- two sliced tomatoes;
- 70 grams each of spicy ketchup and mayonnaise.
In this recipe, salami can be replaced with the same amount of boiled or smoked chicken fillet, cut into thin strips. In addition, any meat product is suitable: sausages, cut into circles, small slices of bacon, boiled sausage in cubes, boiled pork. You can also use any cheese: very hard varieties (parmesan), softer (Dutch, Poshekhonsky) or very simple (processed, suluguni).
You can also make a chicken liver sandwich:
- 200 grams of fried chicken liver, grated or cut into cubes;
- cut three boiled eggs into slices;
- 100 grams of hard cheese coarsely grated;
- 100 grams of mayonnaise or ketchup;
- mustard to taste;
- 1 Armenian lavash.
Any topping for a hot sandwich is laid out in layers on pita bread smeared with sauce, which is rolled up in any convenient shape so that the contents do not show through the seams, otherwise the sandwich risks falling apart during heat treatment.
Vegetarian filling
Sandwiches made from thin pita bread have long been held in high esteem among the movement of vegans and vegetarians, recipes for such fillings are also numerous:
- two fleshy tomatoes, sliced;
- 200 grams of fried champignons;
- 150 grams of tofu or any vegan cheese;
- any vegan sauce (mayonnaise,ketchup, etc.).
Roll up the sandwiches in the form of envelopes, put them in the microwave for 30 seconds, but even cold they are very tasty, which is very convenient where there is no way to heat food.
Cold sandwiches
Quick lavash sandwiches without heat treatment can be prepared in this way: cut the Armenian lavash into four parts, spread each with a thin layer of mayonnaise and sprinkle with grated cheese (can be melted). Grate 200 grams of crab sticks and four boiled eggs and spread evenly over the cheese. Cut two fresh tomatoes into half rings and lay out a strip on each piece of pita bread. Roll up into an envelope or roll and place in a plastic bag.
An easier, no-cook veggie sandwich filling can be made using spinach, which is the perfect leafy vegetable with all the micronutrients your body needs.
- 10 small fresh spinach leaves;
- two cucumbers, cut into thin rings;
- a bunch of green onions, finely chopped;
- two sliced tomatoes;
- a few green basil leaves;
- mayonnaise for greasing pita bread;

From greenery
Lavash sandwiches can also be made quite summer-like -from green vegetables. This option is good for those who adhere to a dietary diet, but cannot deny themselves the pleasure of enjoying such a dish. For cooking, it is necessary to cut the pita bread into two parts, grease each half of the entire area with a small amount of sour cream or dietary mayonnaise, lay out fresh spinach leaves, sprinkle with finely chopped parsley and slices of fresh cucumbers.
