Ingredients
The first step is to go to the store and buy everything you need. We will need the following products for sushi:
- Nori - pressed seaweed, in which the rest of the ingredients will be wrapped.
- Rice vinegar. If you can’t buy, you can cook on your own: for this you need to mix sugar (2 tablespoons) and s alt (1 teaspoon) with 1/3 cup of ordinary vinegar (3%).
- Fig. Which sushi rice to choose? You can buy a special one, or you can buy a regular one - round "Krasnodar".
- Soy sauce as a garnish for sushi.
- Mat is a bamboo mat that is designed for rolling rolls.
- Filling - in addition to rice, we will put slightly s alted fish (salmon, trout), as well as cucumbers and soft Philadelphia cheese in sushi. You,of course, you can choose other ingredients.
How to cook sushi at home: step by step instructions
- Start with rice. Two glasses of it are enough for a small family. Pour the rice into a bowl and begin to rinse well. You may have to do this several times to get clear water. Then pour rice with water, let it brew well for 20 minutes.
- Put it in a saucepan, pour two glasses of water (how much rice, so much water), cover with a lid, bring to a boil, and then simmer until the water evaporates.
- Remove the rice from the heat, let it brew under a closed lid for a few minutes.
- Transfer the finished rice to a plastic or wooden bowl and pour the filling into it. It is prepared as follows: we take two tablespoons of rice vinegar, add the same amount of sugar and a teaspoon of s alt to it. Dissolve all the ingredients.
- It is worth noting that dressing is added to slightly cooled rice. Stir it very gently with a wooden spoon so that it does not stick together.
- Now we will roll the rolls. How to cook sushi so that it turns out beautiful and does not fall apart? A mat will come to the rescue. We put it on the table, you can first wrap it with cling film for hygiene purposes.
- Lay a sheet of nori on the mat as shown in the photo above. The smooth side of the nori is placed on the mat, its horizontal stripes will be perpendicular to the bamboo sticks.
- Wet hands in water, take a handful of rice and put it on nori, leaving a centimeter from the edge of the sheet free.
- Grease the wasabi nori and spread the filling at the edge of the sheet, which is closer to us, in an even layer from one side to the other.
- Now roll up the nori sheet with a mat. We twist, starting from ourselves, in the direction of the free edge, slightly pressing on the roll itself. Wet the edge of the nori with water and make sure that one edge overlaps the other and is well fixed.
- We wait for a while, then cut the rolls into portions with a knife dipped in water.
