Not so long ago, UNESCO decided to include the Georgian method of winemaking in the list of the intangible heritage of mankind. If all over the world the must is aged in barrels, then in this Caucasian country, or rather in its region of Kakheti, huge clay jugs - kvevri are used in production. The pulp is put into giant amphoras, two meters high, after which they are buried in the ground. Rocky soil and sharp fluctuations in the mountain climate create the unique wines of Georgia. Each variety has its own flavor palette, aroma, history. Coming to this sunny and hospitable land, the main thing is not to get confused and choose the best from excellent and just good drinks (because there are simply no bad wines here).
Dry Vintage
Georgia adopted the old Soviet classification of wines. Therefore, the word "vintage" refers to the abbreviation DOC adopted in Western Europe, which means "controlquality by origin". Thus, it is noted that the vines for the manufacture of this drink grow only in this region, and nowhere else. These are the best wines of Georgia. Of the white varieties, one cannot fail to mention the pride of the country and the winner of numerous international competitions "Tsinandali". So "Gurjaani", "Tibaani" and "Manavi" are wonderful.
Vintage red wines of Georgia are also beyond praise. Dry "Teliani" won four gold and six silver medals at international competitions. Here is a prime example of how a common French Cabernet Sauvignon vine in a sunny mountainous country produces clusters with an unusual ripe cherry flavor and violet smell. Not much inferior to "Teliani" and "Napareuli", "Kvareli", "Mukuzani". All these high-quality products are aged in oak barrels for at least three years.
Ordinary wines of Georgia
These low-sugar (dry) drinks, although not aged as long as vintage ones and made from pulp rather than must, are nonetheless very worthy. "Kakheti" and "Shuamta" are fermented in clay kvevri. Saperavi is a local variety of vine grown specifically for these soils, climate, and relief. The clusters ripen late, which gives this wine a dry note of autumn. But that's not all.
Semi-dry and semi-sweet wines of Georgia
From the first cohort, we can advise the white "Tbilisuri",pink "Sachino" and red "Pirosmani". In their production, Saperavi grapes and new European technologies are used. But for semi-sweet alcoholic drinks, very regional varieties of berries are taken. Therefore, the wines "Tvishi", "Tetra" and "Savane" (white), as well as "Khvanchkara", "Kindzmarauli" and "Akhasheni" (red) are considered vintage.
Dessert and liqueur wines of Georgia
Contrary to popular belief that sweet alcoholic drinks are not produced in the country, they still exist, and very good ones. "Anaga" tastes like Madeira - dark amber, rich, with a long aftertaste with hints of almonds and chocolate. "Saamo" is drunk easily, although it is fraught with seventeen degrees. Garnet-colored Salkhino is a typical liqueur wine, as is the white Khikhvi.
In a word, make your choice and enjoy it!

Further, the wine was poured into huge amphorae with a brand, which indicated the year of harvest, the region of origin and the label of the manufacturer. Even then, Bulgarian wines were in great demand in the ancient world and were actively exported to the metropolis - Greece
