Zeppelins are a recipe for Lithuanian cuisine. This dish in its taste resembles zrazy and dumplings at the same time. Very tasty and easy to make. So how do you cook zeppelins?
Ingredients
To make potato dough we need:
- potatoes - 6 medium pieces (at least 1 kg);
- sour cream (42% fat) - 30 grams (1 tablespoon);
- s alt, pepper, spices to taste.
For minced meat:
- beef or pork mince - 300g;
- fat - 30 g;
- white onion - 1 pc.;
- s alt and ground black pepper to taste.
Cooking recipe
To begin with, we make a blank from the dough. We need boiled and raw potatoes. Zeppelins, the recipe for which has been established for several centuries, are not very fond of innovation. Therefore, we separate a third of the prepared potatoes and cook them in their skins until fully cooked. Very important: you need to cook in a saucepan so that it does notturned out dry. Then carefully remove the peel and turn into a puree. Some housewives, before crushing potatoes, add milk or butter. In our case, this is not necessary. It is enough that the boiled potatoes are slightly moist.
While one part of the potato is being cooked, take the other part and three on a fine grater. Then we put a double layer of gauze on the sieve and squeeze the juice. Set aside the last one for 15 minutes.
Mix boiled and raw potatoes until smooth. Add sour cream, juice and spices. Mix everything again until a homogeneous mass is obtained.
It's time for frying. This is a mandatory element, otherwise you will not get zeppelins. The recipe offers two options: fry the onion either in lard or vegetable oil. The first option looks preferable, as it is more consistent with the original. The main thing is to fry over low heat until golden brown. After that, add the frying to the minced meat and mix everything thoroughly.
Next, we make cakes about the size of a palm, put the minced meat and close up. You should get potato-meat zeppelins. Recipe almost done.
We just have to boil the "airships", preferably in a simple saucepan with slightly s alted water. In this case, the dishes should be large enough so that the zeppelins do not rub against each other - they can lose their natural look. In addition, you need to throw them into the water immediately afterhow blanks are made so that the potatoes do not darken. It takes about 20 minutes to cook. As the zeppelins boil, they first rise to the top and then sink to the bottom - this is the first sign that they are ready.
Besides, don't forget to keep a close eye on the received "airships". For some housewives, it so happens that the potato dough begins to darken or burst. In this case, just add some starch to the water. However, in order to protect yourself from such trouble, it is best to immediately pick up high-quality potatoes.
