Although, of course, there was no smell of native birch sap, despite the erroneous belief of the Creator Vavilen: all his life, the Sprite drink was associated with its fans and was positioned by the company that produces it, like soda with lemon or lime. And its palatability was appreciated by representatives of the “Pi generation” in the USSR and the post-Soviet space only a little later than the classics of the same Pepsi, familiar to many from the pioneer cloudless childhood.

Birth of a legend

The founding fathers gave birth to the idea for the name of the drink "Sprite" a long time ago, in the 40s of the last century, in those sweet times when many other versions of "liquid candy" were never heard of. A silver-haired elf named Sprite became quite popular in The Coca-Cola Company's advertising pictures. This character was constantly dazzling and widely smiling, which is quite American, andinstead of a headdress, he put corks from a fizzy drink on his head. Americans, young and old, fell in love with such a hero, and later, when the company decided to start creating pops with lemon, this drink was automatically given the name of the already familiar fairy-tale character - "Sprite". The drink, it should be noted, came out well. And got into a good sales position.

1961 – year of birth

In October of this year, the Sprite drink was created. He, as already mentioned, had a taste of lime and lemon (the idea is simple: an analogue and competitor of the no less famous 7Up from PepsiCo was released). The range of labels used mainly blue and greenish with silver shades. And for the first time, the inhabitants of Atlanta and Marietta (USA) could try the Sprite drink. After seven days, it was tried in eight places, and the soda was positioned as a soda with a lemon flavor. Drink "Sprite" was proposed to be used in the same way as a traditional soda.

1978 - continuation of the triumphal procession

This year, Sprite takes first place in the category of drinks with similar taste, becomes independent and original. It perfectly quenches thirst. Especially for the purpose of making the new brand easily recognizable by potential buyers, large-sized containers with bright, memorable labels were developed. Since then, the green bottle has become a symbol, the embodiment of freshness and desired coolness. And this brand has already been promoted in 40 states. A significant role inSprite's popularity surge was played by the design base, because no one has ever produced or sold pop in such containers!

What do we have?

In the Russian Federation, the all-conquering Sprite with bright flavors of lemon and lime appeared in 1992, immediately after the collapse of the Union. Since then, it has immediately become one of the most popular thirst-quenching drinks. It was truly a brand that inspired many progressive youth to be first in everything they did and felt.

And already in 1994 a rebranding was carried out and a new logo was invented. And also the most popular slogan that "the image of nothing - the thirst for everything", which is strongly associated today with "Sprite". Now this highly carbonated drink is distributed virtually all over the world and has gained popularity on a par with the main drink Coca-Cola. To date, a whole line of Sprite flavors has been developed: citrus, cucumber, grapefruit, ginger, energy drink (with caffeine).

And Spritea (with natural green tea) is produced especially for the vast Asian market. Today, this drink is used as a base in many cocktail recipes - alcoholic and soft drinks. And the price of "Sprite" is still democratic and accessible to the widest range of potential consumers and avid fans: 0.33 liters - 25-40, 0.5 liters - 50-60, 1 liter - 70-100 rubles.
