The famous alcoholic drink "Belis" - a liqueur produced in Ireland since the 70s of the last century - has become popular not so long ago. This mixture of whiskey and coffee liqueur would still be more correct to call "Irish Cream" (Irish Cream), since "Baileys" (Baileys) - this is just the most popular brand, owning about half of the market for the sale of this drink and releasing the product since 1974 of the year. The percentage of alcohol in it is quite low - 17%, so it is suitable both for drinking in its pure form and for mixing cocktails. Many also like to add a couple of spoonfuls of white chocolate flavored liquid to their coffee. The product exists in a variety of flavor variations that appeared somewhat later than the classic drink. So, today you can find mint, chocolate and coffee varieties of Baileys.
Alcoholic cocktails with "Baileys"
Without Baileysmany popular alcoholic cocktails are indispensable: the most famous of them is the White Russian, the recipe of which is given below, Shot B-52, Irish Dream and other combinations. Traditionally, Irish cream is mixed with stronger vodka or, which is especially suitable for ladies, simply whipped with ice, decorated with cream and chocolate, sometimes with the addition of ice cream or, for example, a banana. Let's prepare the most famous liqueur-based cocktail - "White Russian", which you can find on the menu of bars and nightclubs from Tokyo to New York. To feel the atmosphere of the nightlife of the capitals, we need:
- 60 ml Baileys;
- 60 ml vodka;- 100-120 ml milk.
Mix the ingredients in a shaker and shake well, fill a short glass (usually called "rocks" by bartenders) halfway with ice and pour the resulting mixture. A couple of minutes, and "White Russian" is ready. Dear ladies, remember that this cocktail, although it has an extremely high taste, is extremely high in calories. One serving can contain up to 450 kcal. Therefore, it is better not to abuse it.
Cooking "Belis": homemade liquor
By the way, at home you can treat yourself not only to delicious cocktails, but also to the drink itself, without having to buy it in the store. That's right - you can make Baileys at home. To do this, we stock up on the necessarycomponents. We will need:
- 1 cup cream - heavy or not, depending on your preference;
- 400 gr. condensed milk (about 1 can);
- 1.5 cups of Irish whiskey (note that many do not philosophize and add vodka instead of whiskey);
- 1 teaspoon of instant coffee;
- 2 tablespoons of chocolate syrup;- 1 teaspoon of vanilla sugar or vanilla powder on the tip of a knife.
If you make "Belis" at home from these ingredients, the liquor will turn out no worse than the original. So, put all the ingredients in a blender and beat at maximum speed for 30 seconds. Pour into a bottle or decanter, close the cork and put in the refrigerator. Liquor can be stored for 2 months. But the taste and endless possibilities for preparing a variety of cocktails will not let your favorite alcohol disappear. Get creative: cut fruit, such as bananas, into a tall glass and add a couple of teaspoons of Belis. Liquor will only help to shade their taste. You can sprinkle nuts on top. You can also add ice cream. Just remember to drink in moderation.
