The word itself means "a bowl of rice with chicken and eggs." Why did the Japanese choose such a name for this dish? The first character 親 (oya) means "parent", the second character 子 (ko) means "child", and the third character 丼 (dong) means "cup". If everything is clear with the last component of the word, then the use of the first two parts is not entirely clear. The locals of the country explain this very simply: the parent is the chicken, and the egg is herchild. How is Oyakodon prepared?

In order to prepare this Japanese dish, you will need the following products:

  • Chicken fillet or leg (300 g).
  • Rice (half a cup).
  • Eggs (3 pcs.).
  • Onion (one medium head).
  • Soy sauce (6 spoons).
  • Plum wine "Mirin" or sugar (2 tablespoons) and parsley.

The procedure for preparing Japanese Oyakodon is shown below.
