It is recommended to lightly melt the butter in the microwave oven or near a hot battery (if you are cooking in winter). Add flour to liquid butter and mix. Then add s alt and pour the amount of liquid indicated in the recipe. Knead the dough, gently forming an even rectangle in the process. We roll it out, sprinkle abundantly with granulated sugar and vanilla on top. We turn again. We repeat the procedure several times. As a result, we get puff pastry, which in terms of taste is in no way inferior to the store-bought version.
How to make cookies - "ears" of puff pastry
When the dough is ready, let it stand in the cold for a while. Ten to fifteen minutes will be enough for the puff pastry to reach. Now let's start making cookies. First, roll out a piece into a fairly large layer. Fold the edges towards the center. Then we repeat the same manipulation again. Now let's fold the resulting design in half (the figure shows how to fold the dough to make the “Puff Ears” cookies). The result should be a roll that is cut into small pieces. It turns out ears, or hearts, as the hostesses also call them.
You can sprinkle sugar on top again, so to speak, make a control sweet shot. We heat the oven to 180 degrees. Lay the cookies carefully on the baking sheet so that one does not touch the other. Puffthe dough, of course, does not swell as much during baking as yeast dough, but it is recommended to keep a distance. Cooking time is 15-18 minutes.
Cookies from ready-made dough with nuts
If you don't have the time and desire to mess around with the preparation of the dough, then you can use the store option. For the Puff Ears cookie recipe, you will need one package. Add here more granulated sugar and cinnamon to taste, as well as ground nuts.
Purchased dough is sold heavily frozen, so you will have to spend time defrosting before baking. We do not use a microwave, everything goes naturally. After defrosting, roll out the dough, sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and nut crumbs. We cut the cookies "Puff ears", put it on a baking sheet covered with parchment. We send it to the oven for ten to fifteen minutes at a temperature of 190 degrees.
