A bit of history

Wide range of marmalade
Wide range of marmalade

Surely everyone remembers the magic sweet orange slices sprinkled with sugar. Marmalade has been produced in this form for many years. But few people know that it was not originally made from oranges at all.

The word "marmalade" comes from the French marmalade. And they called this word a product that was not at all similar to the current sweetness. So called quince jam. Later they began to make it from oranges, gradually making it more and more dense. There is a legend that marmalade was invented in Dundee in 1790 in an attempt to save a load of rottingoranges carried by a ship caught in a storm. But this story has no documentary evidence.

First, rose water and musk were added to the delicacy, then it was cut into squares, beautifully packaged and given as a gift. Outwardly, it resembled another popular dish - Turkish delight. Over time, its composition has changed somewhat - they began to add agar-agar, gelatin and pectin to it. People quickly fell in love with the unpretentious sweetness, and they learned how to prepare marmalade not only with different tastes, but also with different shapes.

In 1920, a German resident Hans Riegel founded the company "Haribo" - one of the largest industries engaged in the manufacture and sale of chewing sweets. The variety of tastes and shapes of their products strikes the imagination of even an adult: multi-colored beans, geometric shapes, sticks, New Year's marmalade, hearts with a delicate cherry and strawberry flavor, and even animals and inhabitants of the ocean.

But the most beloved and recognizable form is jelly bears of different colors with a fruity taste. They can be found in almost any store in the country. Bright, beautifully packaged, and most importantly - delicious. They beckon children and their parents to them.

Fru-fru marmalade is based on sugar, gelatin, grape juice and glucose syrup. All these ingredients fall into a special boiler, where they are boiled. In the process of cooking, citric acid, dye and flavors are added there. The mixture is then sent to the pouring machine, from where the hot syrup will fall into trays filled with a layer of corn starch. Various forms are imprinted there, which the marmalade will acquire at the end of its journey. At this stage, the future delicacy cools and dries.

The final destination of the treat is a packaging machine that distributes candies into packages, labels them and puts the date of production. After that trucksthey take ready-made sweets to different outlets, where they will wait for their buyer.
