Ukrainian cuisine has evolved over the centuries under the influence of the culinary traditions of various peoples. Therefore, today it distinguishes several directions. The cuisine of Western Ukraine is more similar to Polish and Hungarian. To prepare it, you need to take a pound of meat, 0.3 kg of potatoes, 0.25 kg of cabbage and beets, one onion and carrot, three tablespoons of tomato paste, three garlic cloves, a teaspoon of vinegar and bay leaf.
Meat is poured with three liters of water and boiled for an hour and a half. Carrots are cut into cubes, onions - into half rings, and they are fried together in vegetable oil. Beets should be cut into strips, fried, add tomato paste, vinegar, a little water and simmer for about eight minutes. Chop potatoes andcabbage. Remove the meat from the prepared broth, put the potatoes there. Cut the meat and put in the broth. S alt everything to taste and bring to a boil.
After that, cabbage is added and boiled for 5 minutes, beets are laid. Vegetables are stewed for another 10 minutes. Then you need to put carrots with onions in the borscht and cook the soup until the beets are ready. Before the end of cooking, bay leaves and chopped (crushed) garlic are placed in the pan. Ukrainian cuisine, the recipes of which are quite simple, requires strict adherence to proportions and cooking time. Otherwise, the dishes lose their indescribable taste and aroma.
The menu of Ukrainian cuisine, in addition to the famous soup, includes a variety of dumplings, dumplings, salads, meat and fish dishes. Many adults remember the delicious cherry pies that Ukrainian grandmothers fried for them in their childhood. Cooking requires one and a half cups of flour, half a cup of curdled milk, a teaspoon of soda, 0.3 kg of pitted cherries, a pinch of s alt and a little sugar (a tablespoon), three tablespoons of vegetable oil.
Soda, s alt, sugar are put into the sifted flour and everything is mixed. Yogurt and butter are added to the mass. For dessert, you need to take a pound of strawberries, 0.3 liters of sour cream or yogurt, sugar (a couple of tablespoons). Strawberries are crushed with a potato masher so that large pieces remain. After that, sugar and yogurt (sour cream) are added to the mass. The dessert is laid out in bowls and decorated with a mint leaf and a whole berry.
