Traces of human DNA in Mortadel sausage: fiction or truth?

In August of this year, there was a serious scandal that spread all over the media with a news feed that during the examination, human DNA was found in the Mortadel sausage. In the article, we have to get acquainted with the meat manufacturer and find out whether this is true or fiction. But first, let's get acquainted with the Mortadel brand.

Introduction to the promising company "Mortadel"

Despite the foreign name of the brand, it is an exclusively Russian company. Translated from French, this word means "real (-her)". It is this ideology that is fundamental to the mission of the brand. According to the company's president, Nikolay Agurbash (in addition to his position, he is a doctor of economic sciences and an academician of the Russian Academy of Entrepreneurship), a real sausage should contain at least 70% pork. Over the years of its existence, the Russian manufacturer has won the trust of many millions of our citizens. And this is explained by the simple but very tasty composition of Mortadel sausage: selected chilled meat, natural spices and spices, fresh eggs and milk.

Mortadel's success strategy

The company's huge agro-complex consists of over 12,000 heads of breeding pigs, which are not only grown for the production of their sausages, but also are a genetic contribution to the development of pig breeding in Russia. Since this meat is a raw material for many Russian entrepreneurs. Maintenance of pigs is fully automated: it is always clean, fresh and the temperature is optimal. More importantly, the production of the agricultural complex is waste-free: gas and water are obtained from manure thanks to a biogas plant.

There is a grain fund of own production. This allows the production of animal feed on modern equipment, reducing the cost by several times. The occupied territory of 65 hectares allows launching a broad environmental campaign while maintaining financial costs, paying special attention to the quality of future Mortadel sausages.

Shocking news report about "Mortadel"

Journalists of the newspaper "Izvestia" together with the TV channel "Rent-TV" created a program "exposing" the products of "Mortadel". It was reported that during the conducted laboratoryexaminations at the Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, human DNA was found in sausages. In particular, it was about 2 products at once: sausage "Royal" ("Mortadel") and in granular servelat.

Vice-President Elvira Agurbash hastened to apply to the Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences for clarification on this matter, since no official requests for sampling have been received. From the side of the staff of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the answer was that they had not carried out any examinations of Mortadel sausages, and such a protocol simply does not exist.

Cause of conflict

28.07.2017 a meeting of the OFAS was held, where a criminal case was initiated against the large trading network Dixy. Then the lawyer of the trading network voiced and attached to the case documents on the presence of human DNA in the Mortadel sausage. "Dixie" referred to an independent examination at the insistence of ACORT (Association of Retail Companies) of 26 Mortadel sausages, where samples were found that exceeded the content of human DNA. The sausages were taken from the chain's retail stores.

When Dixie's lawyer was asked at the meeting whether he was ready to face criminal liability for the serious accusations he had made, he remained silent.

Previous events

A few days before the sensational report about the "human sausage", some intruders entered the territorymeat processing plant "Mortadel". During this crime, 18 doors, 10 safes were opened and 1 small safe was stolen from the office of the Deputy Prime Minister, as well as 5 safes were opened from the office of the president of the company.

The criminals worked quickly and professionally: the alarm was turned off and all actions went unnoticed by the guards.

It is worth noting here that Elvira Agurbash had a folder in which all information on the conflict situation with Dixy was stored, as well as some sources, documents and electronic media with materials. Perhaps this was the purpose of the criminal activity of the attackers.

For its part, a representative of the retail chain refused to comment on this, citing the lack of responsibility for the safety of Mortadel's property.

Official apology

After the resonant case about the Mortadel sausage and due to the lack of official documents from the indicated research sources (from the Institute of Nutrition of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences), Izvestia employees apologized to the company's vice president. They also reported that the responsible officer for the report arbitrarily submitted the article for publication. Due to inconsistent actions, this person was fired.

Despite some strangeness of the events taking place in Izvestia, Elvira Agurbash accepted an apology from journalists. Those, in turn, reported that they were preparing material onrefutation of a previously published article. But a lawsuit against the Rent-TV channel and the Izvestia publishing house is planned, as serious damage was done to the company's reputation, and as a result, financial losses. The trust of beloved customers, which has been earned over the years, has been seriously tested.
