There are a lot of reasons for such a radical form of treatment. And the same question - nutrition after intestinal surgery - is faced by all patients.
3 meal periods
The first period lasts two to three days immediately after the operation. The diet these days is the most strict.
Second period - from the 4th to the 5-7th day after surgery. The duration of this period depends on the patient's recovery process.
Third period - from the 7th to the 30th-40th day after the operation. The biggest and most insidious, because you already want everything, but everything is still impossible.
Prohibited foods after bowel surgery
-
Alcohol.
- Fresh baked goods, especially muffins.
- Fatty meats.
- Dishes containing a large amount of s alt and spices, as well as all types of smoked products.
- Raw milk (homemade), fatty dairy and sour-milk products, cheese.
- Crushed and bean cereals, pasta.
- Vegetables, including raw (especially cabbage, tomatoes, asparagus).
- Mushrooms.
- Nuts.
- Fatty soups. cold, dairyand bean soups.
- Cocoa, coffee, grape juice, carbonated and chilled drinks.
First period
Diet after bowel surgery is subject to strict rules.
This period is the most difficult for the patient. Nutrition these days should unload the gastrointestinal tract as much as possible. This is done for several reasons:
- Reduce intestinal motility, as the intestines actively move when digesting solid and fatty foods.
- Decreased secretory function. Bile and enzymes can dissolve the suture that is placed on the intestine. If there is a dissolution of the sutures, then peritonitis will begin. And this condition is dangerous for the patient's life, and the duration of the recovery process increases several times. But the mucous tissues in humans heal quite quickly. Therefore, after 3-4 days, in case of good he alth, a relaxation of the diet is allowed.
All food these days should be liquid or jelly-like, warm, not s alty, and no more than one glass at a time. You need to eat 7-8 times a day.
On the first day, as a rule, the patient is in intensive care under the watchful eyes of doctors. In the first 10-12 hours, he should not eat or drink anything at all. But basically, the patients themselves have no appetite - everything hurts and they want to sleep after anesthesia. So it seems to the patient himself.
However, there is another explanation for this. During the operation and after it, doctors inject intravenous infusion solutions that nourish the body. It is thanks to thesesolutions in the first hours the patient does not feel hunger.
After 10-12 hours, the patient is only allowed to drink liquids. The patient's diet includes various compotes, decoctions and vegetable broths. Meat broth is allowed, but only half. The total volume of liquid must be at least 2 liters. By the end of the first day, you can eat fruit jelly.
On the second day after surgery, more varied liquids can be added to the patient's diet. Low-fat meat broth is introduced, you can chicken. Fruit jellies and natural juices will pleasantly diversify the menu after bowel surgery. It is allowed to add oil to meat and rice broth (if rice has not strengthened you before).
Starting from the third day, the diet after intestinal surgery allows you to roam - if you feel normal - to liquid (mashed) cereals, meat and fish soufflé, one soft-boiled egg.
By this time, the patient has a brutal appetite. But it needs to be contained. The diet is not much different from the previous day. You can add low-fat cream, and reduce the frequency of meals up to 6 times a day.
With fermented milk products you need to be careful. If earlier the patient had milk intolerance, even in early childhood, now is not the time for experiments. Dairy products can provoke an undesirable effect. For example, high-fat kefir or milk can cause flatulence, fermented baked milk provokes constipation in some people. Cheese sometimes hardens. All these phenomena are highly undesirable. But ifpreviously the patient did not observe an inadequate reaction to sour-milk and dairy products, then after the operation he can safely drink them.
If the patient develops pain, flatulence, nausea, vomiting, loss of consciousness, diarrhea or constipation while expanding the diet, then you should return to the previous menu.
Second period
With a good course of the postoperative period, the patient is transferred to the general ward for 3-4 days. The diet after intestinal surgery should still be gentle on the intestines. But it is already more diverse, and a gradual load on the intestines with more solid food begins.
It is allowed to enter the following cereals: wheat, rye, oatmeal, rice, semolina. Of these, you can cook mucous porridge on the water. You can also cook slimy soups with meat broth with these cereals. Diversify the menu with fish and meat soufflés, steam protein omelettes. You can also enjoy sweet mousses and low-fat dairy products.
But if the patient's he alth is unsatisfactory, then the nutrition after the operation on the intestine remains the same until improvement occurs. Also at this time, doctors expect the patient to have an independent stool.
Third period
In the normal course of the disease, on the 7-10th day after the operation, the patient is discharged from the hospital.
It would seem that the end of all diets. But no… You need to follow the diet for at least another 2-3 weeks.
Diet after bowel surgery during this period is as follows. Preference should be given to dishessteamed. The fat content of broths and other first courses is low. Be careful with vegetables and fruits, which can cause excessive gas formation! You can safely enter all dairy products from the 14th day after the operation. And most importantly, the stool should be regular, and the act of defecation should be easy.
Recipes after bowel surgery
Slimy Soup
Unfortunately, not many hostesses know how to cook it. It doesn't sound delicious, but by cooking this recipe, you will become a fan of this dish. Pour 2-3 tablespoons of oatmeal into boiling water (1 liter). Cook until the flakes are completely dissolved, about 1 hour. Then we filter, but do not wipe.
In the first period after the operation, we s alt a little and eat. In the second period after surgery, you can add an egg-milk mixture. And in the third period, you can add some potatoes, grated carrots and boil again. Then wipe through a sieve - and a more delicious slimy soup is ready.
Meat or fish souffle
For cooking, 100 grams of minced meat is required. In our case, it should be minced meat from lean meats or fish. One egg yolk, 20-30 ml of milk and a teaspoon of semolina. Mix everything, add egg white.
Put the resulting mixture on a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 15-30 minutes until cooked. You can also cook in a double boiler.
Bon appetit and get well soon!
