Few people know that the biscuit, the recipe of which has been known for many centuries, has its own history. The first mention of it dates back to the 15th century. Entries about the recipe were found in the ship's logbooks of sailors in England. Before a long voyage, enough dried biscuit was loaded into the hold of the ship. The fact that it did not contain butter allowed it to be stored for a long time. The biscuit was very nutritious and, at the same time, had a small volume. This made it useful for most travelers.
But it was not only useful, but also very tasty product. And this, as you might guess, could not be ignored by gourmets. Apparently, during the voyage, one of them tried this dish and concluded that it belonged in the royal palace, and not in the galley. Thus, the biscuit was "reborn" at the court of Queen Victoria. But it was no longer just dried dough. Biscuit turned into fresh cakes with jam layers.
Some time later, the biscuit, the recipe of which was released "to the people", began to travel the world. "Victorian" biscuit cakes spread to England, France, andsoon in the English colonies.
In our time, a biscuit has become a welcome dish in any home. The recipe is usually different. After all, every housewife wants to add her own “zest” to this dish.
A delicious and light dessert is a honey biscuit. Its recipe is very simple. Whipped proteins make the dessert tall, and sour cream impregnation gives juiciness and tenderness.
If you are making a biscuit for the first time, it is better to write down the recipe (or print it out) and follow each step carefully. We need the following ingredients to make a honey biscuit:
-
honey - 3 tbsp;
- eggs - 4 pcs.;
- sugar - 1 tbsp;
- flour - 1.5 tbsp
For impregnation:
- sour cream - 0.5 kg;
- sugar - 4 tablespoons
Cooking
- Separate egg whites and yolks. Place egg whites in a bowl for whipping. It is recommended to set the mixer to low speed. Beat the mass until a white gentle foam is obtained.
- Next, gradually add sugar and, without stopping, continue to beat until we get a thick protein foam.
- Add egg yolks to this mass. And beat well again. Then add honey. If it is thick, then it must be melted in advance. We beat. Add the required amount of flour to the resulting mass.
- Cover the form with parchment paper and grease with butter. Now the dough can be laid out in a mold. In the oven, preheated to 180 degrees, we bake our future cake for about 40 minutes.
- When hewell browned, this will mean that the biscuit is ready. But still it is better to check its readiness. The easiest way to do this is with a toothpick. You need to pierce the cake in the middle and pull it out. If the stick is dry, then the dish is ready. And if the dough sticks to it, then you need to let it brew.
- When the biscuit has cooled, cut it into three pieces.
- Now let's move on to the preparation of the cream. Place sour cream and sugar in a mixing bowl. Mix for 2-3 minutes. And make sure that the sour cream does not turn into butter.
- Next, we grease all the parts with cream and combine them into one whole. It will take 5-6 hours to soak the dish.
With a minimum of food and time costs, a very tasty biscuit is obtained. The recipe, of course, can be slightly diversified by decorating the dessert with finely chopped fruit or grated chocolate.
