The cuisine of the East is rich in various dishes - all of them are fragrant, satisfying and tasty. Manty is one of the most popular treats in the East. This dish is somewhat similar to dumplings that we are so used to eating in Russia. Only the manty is much larger and shaped like a bag.
The filling of manti is minced lamb and onion. The dough is very thin, simple in composition and practically without eggs. The most important distinguishing feature is that manti is steamed. Cooking a semi-finished product is unacceptable.
Housewives may have a question: how to cook manti without a pressure cooker and double boiler? The article will consider the classic recipe, features and methods of cooking the named dish.
Classic recipe
For cooking you will need:
- flour - 1 kilogram;
- egg;
- minced meat (preferably lamb) - 1-2 kilograms;
- onion - 5 pieces;
- s alt;
- pepper;
- butter - 70 grams;
- water - glass.
The cooking order looks like this:
- Clean the onion well. Wash the vegetable and cut into small cubes. You can use a vegetable chopper. Add the chopped onion to the mince. Add s alt and pepper to the same place, mix everything thoroughly and remember with clean hands.
- Sieve flour and a pinch of s alt through a sieve into a deep dish. Make a small indentation in it, break the egg into the hole made and add water from it. Knead soft dough. You may need a little more water. The dough should not be tight.
- Roll out the dough. For ease of preparation, divide it into three equal parts. Roll out each one thinly. Divide the rolled out dough into small squares about 15 centimeters on a side.
- Put the minced meat filling in the center of the squares.
- Connect the corners of the squares as follows: bottom right and top left, bottom left and top right.
- Once connected, blind the left and right ends together.
The dish is cooked in a special device for about 40 minutes, but we will look at how to cook manti without a pressure cooker.
Cooking Features
It is worth noting right away that, no matter how the manti will be cooked, it is worth making a few simple manipulations with a dish that is not yet ready:
- It is necessary to generously lubricate each product with softened butter or, in extreme cases, vegetable. But only the lower part of the product needs to be lubricated.
- Semi-finished product is not allowedfreeze. Although some chefs recommend this manipulation, as after freezing, manti become more juicy.
- Some gourmets advise to fry the semi-finished product in vegetable oil until crispy. Usually this manipulation is carried out immediately before cooking, and not after it.
The easiest way to cook manti is steaming in a special device called a pressure cooker. However, you do not need to buy it if you have never cooked the described dish. After all, you cannot know in advance whether you will like it or not.
How to cook manti without a pressure cooker
And if you don't have a pressure cooker, then don't be upset. You can find alternative ways to prepare this dish. Next, we will talk about the easiest ways to prepare it.
For example, if you have a multicooker with the "Steam" function in your kitchen, you can safely cook manti in it. To do this, you need to do the following:
- Pour enough water into the multicooker bowl.
- Turn on "Steam" mode.
- While the water in the slow cooker heats up, generously grease the steaming tray with butter.
- Spread prepared manti on it and set it already over boiling water.
The duration of cooking depends on the size of the products and on the power of the multicooker. On average, manti is cooked in this way for about 50 minutes.
Cooking in a colander
This is one of the easiestways to cook manti. A colander can be found in every kitchen. To prepare the dish in this way, you will need a wide and high pan.
How to cook manti in a colander:
- Fill the pot with water so that the liquid level is about 8 centimeters from the bottom of the pot.
- Take a colander that can be placed over the pot. Please note that the colander must not touch the water!
- Put the water in the pot to boil.
- Coarsely brush the bottom of the colander with butter or vegetable oil.
- Place the manti in there.
- Place a colander over boiling water.
This way the dish is cooked for about 30 minutes.
Cooking with gauze
This cooking method is similar to the previous one. Only instead of a colander, a clean gauze folded in several layers is fixed above the pan, which should sag a little.
After boiling water and placing semi-finished products on gauze, cover the manti with a lid that will not come into contact with them.
It will take approximately 30 minutes to cook manti with gauze.
Cooking with a frying pan
This cooking option is not so popular, but very convenient. Here's how to cook manti without a pressure cooker using a frying pan:
- Lubricate the pan generously with butter (do not use vegetable oil).
- Reheat it well.
- Spread the manti in the pan at a distance of 1-2 centimeters from each other.
- After 5 minutes, add boiled water so that it is completelycovered semi-finished product.
- Cook the manti for about 30 minutes over medium heat (the water should boil slightly).
In closing
The only downside to all of these cooking methods is the small portions. You can cook no more than 5 products at a time, which means that you will have to cook in several approaches.
If you like this dish and you are sure that you will cook it often, then it is better to buy a pressure cooker to reduce the cooking time by several times.
