Every Russian knows chocolate products of the Red October brand. The famous "Alenka", toffee "Kis-Kis", caramel "Cancerous necks": our grandmothers knew all this.
Capital sweets "Red October" are not without reason so popular, because the history of production goes back 165 years.
A little about the factory
Back in 1851, the Prussian merchant and chocolate lover T. F. von Einem decided to try to set up a business in the Russian Empire by opening a small chocolate and candy production.
Since 1867, the factory has already been in the directory of enterprises of the Russian Empire under the name “Einem. Association of the steam factory of chocolate, sweets and tea biscuits. Von Einem donated five kopecks of silver from every pound of biscuits sold to charity. Since 1869, Julius Geiss, a completely Russified German from the Black Forest, in the lands of Baden-Württemberg, who headed the factory in 1876 after the death of Theodor Ferdinand, became his companion.
In 1917, the factory was nationalized, like everything else in the country, but did not stop working, and in 1922 it became known as "RedOctober". During the war, only Gvardeisky and Cola chocolates were produced, but not the one that everyone was used to, but Cola like the Arctic, the Kola Peninsula.
The most famous
The most delicious products in Russia are Red October sweets. Their composition, of course, varies. Simple chocolate and with nuts, a lot of types of caramel and waffles, various gingerbread and cookies - all this is done according to its unique recipe.
Here, for example, candies of the Alyonka trademark. Between two wafer layers grated nuts with milk in roasted sugar. Or Alyonka creme brulee. Its filling is dark, milky, with cocoa powder, and topped with chocolate icing.
Alyonka caramel has also appeared, although everyone is used to the fact that it is chocolate. The oval-shaped candy looks and tastes very similar to an orange.
"Thunderstorm of seals" was always jokingly and seriously called the iris "Kis-kiss". Like a hundred years ago, they also stick to the teeth and remove poor-quality fillings. Despite this, the taste of these toffee forever stuck in the memory of people. In the Soviet years, these sweets were in every home.
Krasny Oktyabr candy produces a wide variety of candies, including the bear-toed bear product. The usual ones were waffle, but there was a novelty - honey roasting. Oblong confectionery covered with chocolate icing, and inside caramel with peanuts, hazelnuts and honey. Unusual, but insanely delicious!
Less known but no less tasty
Chocolates "Red October" produces every day. "Triumph"Available in three flavors: Classic, Latte and Exotic.
"Classic" is sprinkled with coconut shavings and crumbles a little, but these are trifles. But in fact, it is a wafer in glaze, under which a very tasty filling is hidden.
“Latte” is also showered, but not with coconut, but with sesame seeds. Cream filling with the taste of bright chocolate latte will not leave you indifferent. And the “exotic” has all the exotic in pistachios. Sprinkled with almost no crumbling wafer crumb (because there is not enough of it on top, this crumb), it has a light green filling and pistachio flavor.
From the "chemistry", by the way, there are not so many components in the candies of the series. The evil "E", which everyone has long been afraid of, is present in the form of dye E-141 and flavoring E-476.
Krasny Oktyabr candies are also produced by such as the Nut Grove. The advantages include relative cheapness, less than three hundred rubles, but there are few nuts, although there should be a lot, according to the name. Well, cocoa butter is replaced with powder, which also does not add taste. In terms of price / quality ratio, the best option. You can eat, and inexpensively.
Jelly line
Candies "Red October" also produces "Jelly", which have a whole series. With the taste of barberry, for example, covered with a good quality dark chocolate icing. The pronounced taste of barberry is sour in moderation, the jelly itself is quite elastic. In general, very tasty sweets, if not for one "but": bust with "chemistry". Polyglycerin, aka E-476, is banned on the territory of the Russian Federation, as it does not have a very good effect onliver and kidneys. E-331 and E-102 are not particularly dangerous, while E-122 is a carcinogen, and very strong. So the buyer's he alth is in his hands.
There is also just marmalade in chocolate. There is a little less chemistry in it than in the above-described "barberry", and it tastes quite edible.
"Southern Night" from the same factory is known to many. Brown marmalade covered with dark chocolate, which does not even crumble or crumble from the candy. Despite the simple gray wrapper, the taste of these sweets is simply excellent. And the composition is quite acceptable, without excesses. Prices for the "jelly" series vary around 180-220 rubles/kg.
Candies in boxes
The most interesting of the "boxed" sweets is undoubtedly the set of "Red October" sweets, which is called the "Tretyakov Gallery". The sweets themselves have condensed milk with sugar and vanilla (in the form of flavoring), irish cream, cognac and apricot yogurt in the filling. In a word, for every taste. From "chemistry" only E-492. But the beauty of this set is that the box is an interesting gift. Guess from the name what is depicted on them? That's right, images of paintings by great artists from the collection of the Tretyakov Gallery. Such a gift costs from 250 rubles.
For connoisseurs, there are more interesting handmade candies "Red October". Glazing and decor of these sweets are made by hand, due to which the price is astronomical. For example, a set "Souvenir from Ryazan" of a dozen candies will cost about 600 rubles, while the "Deer" box, where the candies are madehands of confectioners, already in 2500 r. for three candies. No, there are budget conveyor options, the same well-known "Rus Troika" for 200 "wooden", but you can't give this to the general director, right?
Stolichny candies taste great?
I would like to take apart individually loose candy "Capital" ("Red October"), the price of which reaches seven hundred rubles per kilogram. You should probably expect really delicious taste for this price. But not everything is so simple.
Appearance, of course, chic. The wrapper stylized as Soviet reality looks breathtaking, no doubt about it. In the shape of a rounded rectangle, they are covered with dark chocolate icing, which immediately raised questions. Well, not to the glaze itself, but to its manufacturer. It's not as dark as real chocolate should be. In addition, a godsend for a forensic scientist, because fingerprints remain very clear, which is also not an indicator of quality.
When we get to the filling, we are surprised to find a three-layer one. Cognac (or vodka, it's hard to make out) pralines, burnt sugar and chocolate (in theory) taste pralines. It is quite possible that in terms of production such a filling is difficult, but why not double the price due to manufacturing difficulties?
The only thing that can please, besides the wrapper, is the composition. There are emulsifiers and flavors, but there is not one simply harmful or allergenic-carcinogenic "E".
Variety of factory products
As you can see, the assortmentcandy "Red October" is very large. Which is not surprising, because the craftsmanship and recipe have been honed for more than a century and a half. There are more than sixty types of chocolates alone. Even for people with a penchant for religious fasting, there are five types of fast sweets, among which are everyone's favorite "Truffles" and "Kara-Kum". In total, more than 250 types of various sweets are offered.
In addition to chocolates and chocolate itself, these are cookies, marshmallows, marmalade, halva, and indeed a lot of oriental sweets. Could von Einem and Geiss have imagined that after a century and a half a small production of four people would grow into a huge holding known to the whole world? Yes, in 1864 and 1865 the factory won bronze and silver medals at the All-Russian Manufactory Exhibitions, but later the Grand Prix of the World and International Exhibitions in Paris and Brussels, the Grand Prix "Symbol of Russia" and "People's Mark" were added to this.
Benefits
The company that we are discussing in detail there today, despite the obvious disadvantages presented in this article, has a lot of experience, thanks to which it produces really high-quality sweets that are liked by residents of not only the Russian Federation, but also other countries.
Most types of sweets do not contain any harmful carcinogens, which makes it possible for everyone to taste the incredible taste without fear for their he alth. Believe me, the corporation deserves special attention. Employees try to present chic sweets to customersmore or less normal price.
What is the result?
So, we discussed Red October sweets. Moscow, as the capital of our Motherland, has a greater potential in terms of the production of various sweets. The oldest Russian confectionery company Babaevsky Confectionery Concern and the Rot-Front chocolate factory are also located in the capital. Together with 16 other factories, they are part of the United Confectioners holding, which has existed since 2002.
Their only worthy competitor is the St. Petersburg Krupskaya Confectionery Factory, which has existed since 1938. And no matter how other manufacturers were advertised, no matter how beautiful boxes they produced, only the candy boxes of the Krupskaya factory, in the design of which the most prominent graphic design specialists took part, became a collector's item and are stored in the State Russian Museum. Yes, and the quality of the product of St. Petersburg confectioners is often better, and the price is one and a half times lower. Why? Because Red October is a global brand that customers pay for.
The choice is yours anyway!
