Most people use the microwave oven in a very limited way: for heating food, defrosting food, cooking casseroles, pies and it will be a big surprise for them that you can simply boil vegetables for salads in it, cook light diet meals with little or no fat. The only condition is to choosenot too large vegetables, almost the same size. Otherwise, you will have to wait longer. What you need to cook vegetables in the microwave:
- three beets;
- four potatoes, preferably with a pinkish skin tone;
- two carrots;
- sleeve or baking bags: one for each type of vegetable.
If there are no bags or sleeves, you can use regular cling film.
Cooking
In order to cook vegetables in the microwave in a bag, you must first wash them thoroughly under running water, removing the smallest grains of debris that can affect the taste of the cooked product. Place each type of vegetable in a separate bag, without drying from the water and tie tightly. If there are no baking bags, then wrap each vegetable several times with ordinary cling film. In each knot, you need to make several holes (just pierce with a fork) so that hot air comes out through them during the heat treatment.
If the capacity of the microwave oven is large, then you can put the vegetables into it at the same time and take them out one by one, as they cook, and if the volume of the oven does not allow this, then place them in turn. Turn on maximum power and bring to readiness.

Not everyone knows that the distribution of heat in a microwave oven is not the same: the temperature at the edge is always lower than in the center. For this reason, when cooking vinaigrette vegetables in the microwave, you need toperiodically (every two to three minutes) move them from one side to the other, additionally turning them over to the opposite side.
Since everyone's microwave power is different, you should definitely check the degree of readiness by piercing each vegetable with a fork or knife right through the bag. When the desired condition is reached, simply cut open the bag, remove the vegetables and cool on a plate.
Country style potatoes
Everyone likes this dish for its ease of preparation and excellent taste, but waiting until it is cooked in the oven is not for everyone, because it is at least forty-five minutes. But baking delicious potatoes in the microwave is quick, since it takes no more than twenty minutes, sometimes less if a certain potato variety is selected. The recipe is good because it does not require certain proportions, and all the ingredients are put "by eye", based on their taste preferences.

- seasoning mix - Provence herbs or Italian go well with this vegetable;
- garlic.
Cut the peeled potatoes into slices, place in a baking dish. From above, grate the oil frozen in the refrigerator - the more, the tastier and softer the potatoes will be. Top with a mixture of s alt, spices and garlic, chopped into small pieces. You can also sprinkle with herbs.
Place the mold in the microwave, turn on high power and stir the potatoes every five minutes toit was evenly saturated with oil and the aroma of herbs, and after 15 minutes of cooking try it. It may already be ready.
Broccoli with cheese
Easy dinner made with microwaved vegetables baked with cheese can be made in minutes. - 350 grams of broccoli florets;
- 140 grams of hard cheese;

Rinse the cabbage under running water, dry between two layers of paper towel and place in a baking dish pre-oiled. Add 2-4 tbsp. l. water, cover with a lid and place in the microwave at full power. After five minutes, sprinkle with a mixture of s alt and pepper, grated cheese and return to the microwave for another 40-50 seconds (the cheese should melt during this time). If the microwave power is not sufficient, please wait a little longer.
Cauliflower sprouts, Brussels sprouts, green beans or any frozen vegetable mix can be prepared in the same way.
Garnish for tomato meat
This dish is considered Provencal, as it is often served there with meat and fish dishes, although it is cooked in a traditional oven. But why not cook like thisthese vegetables in the microwave, significantly reducing the roasting time? For cooking you will need:
- 400 grams of fresh tomatoes;
- 1-2 tbsp. l. olive oil;
- 2 cloves of garlic;
- a small handful of finely chopped basil or parsley;
- a generous pinch of black pepper;
- s alt to taste.
For this dish, choose medium-sized meaty tomatoes. Cut each in half and lay cut-side down on a clean linen towel to remove some of the juice. Then transfer them to the baking dish, placing them tightly in the dish.
Chop garlic, mix with herbs and pepper, add s alt and oil. Sprinkle the mixture over the tomatoes, distributing it evenly over the surface. Send to the microwave, turn on the medium mode and the timer for 4-5 minutes. You can serve not only warm, but also cold. Tomatoes are very fragrant and tasty, even just with a piece of black bread.
