Crown Royal whiskey has become popular and in demand thanks to Canadian Samuel Bronfman. How did the drink come about?

The presentation of the drink took place on the occasion of the visit of the British royal couple to Canada. It was this event that so influenced both the design of the bottle and the name itself. After all, if translated from English, the brand name sounds like “royal crown”.

Then, more than a hundred cases of whiskey immediately went on sale. The drink gained popularity only in 1951, and in 1964 it went international.

Reviews of Crown Royal whiskey are only positive. Apparently, this is why the Seagram trading house managed to sell more than twenty-five million liters of this drink. Whiskey has a rich, amber-golden color, excellentbalanced aroma and mild taste. To feel the whole bouquet, the drink must be tasted only in its pure form. Otherwise, fruit notes and tones of marmalade and vanilla may not open. According to experts, even a small piece of citrus can spoil the whole taste.

Our time

Crown Royal's real success came when it was acquired by Diageo, the most famous alcohol company. It was this company that was able to present the products in such a way that it got to the top of popularity. Now this drink is most often called "the legendary Canadian whiskey." It immediately catches the eye on store shelves. Its presentable packaging is simply impossible to get around. Experts believe that Crown Royal whiskey will hold a leading position in the global alcohol market for a long time to come.

A few words about the distillery

The Seagram Distillery was opened by farmer Joseph Seagram in 1857. And from the very beginning, no one planned to engage in the production of alcohol. The facility was built to process surplus grain.

But Joseph, unexpectedly even for himself, liked to make whiskey. He got the most out of blending spirits. Moreover, the profit from the sale of alcohol was no less than from the grain trade. During Prohibition in the States, drinks from this distillery were taken to America by Joseph's son, Johnny. The guy turned out to be such a successful smuggler that he never got caught.

It is interesting that even in the most difficult times the enterprise worked at full capacity. That's why, when prohibition was repealed, the Seagrams had all the warehouses full of products. They were practically the first to enter the market and completely conquered it.

In 1933, a new man appeared at the factory. It was the same Samuel Bronfman mentioned at the beginning of the article. Now the main focus was on the production of new varieties of whiskey.

In the sixties, the scope of the company's interests expanded greatly. Now soft drinks were also produced here. A media holding was acquired and the distillery was modernized.

In the nineties, the distillery, all stocks of drinks and fifty hectares of land were bought by the alcohol giant Diageo. They renamed the distillery "Crown Royal", showing what kind of whiskey is in production.

According to reviews of Crown Royal whiskey, it can be judged that all types of this drink are different from each other, and each has its own peculiarity.
