Lenten bagels taste somewhat like those made from puff pastry. They are very flavorful and crispy. And they don't take much time or effort to bake.

Soda variant

This dessert does not require eggs, milk or butter. The test contains a minimum set of products, most of which are always available to every thrifty housewife. To bake lean bagels, check in advance if you have on hand:

  • 100 milliliters sparkling mineral water.

  • 100 milliliters of vegetable oil.

Process Description

Pour a glass of sifted high-grade flour into a deep bowl. A pinch of s alt, vegetable oil and mineral sparkling water are also added there. All mix well until smooth.

The resulting soft, non-sticky dough is wrapped in plastic wrap and put in the refrigerator for half an hour. Thirty minutes later, it is laid out on a flat surface sprinkled with flour, crushed androll out into a rectangle. The resulting layer is folded three times and divided in half. According to the technology described below, you can relatively quickly make a delicious homemade dessert. Due to the fact that such lean bagels do not contain a single gram of milk or butter, even those who watch their figure can safely eat them. To make this pastry you will need:

  • Glass of warm water.
  • 30 grams of pressed yeast.
  • Table spoon of sugar.
  • 3 cups of white wheat flour.
  • 100 milliliters refined sunflower oil.
  • A glass of apple jam.
  • Pinch of s alt.

Sequence of actions

Yeast is dissolved in warm water. Sugar and a pinch of s alt are also added there. All this is poured into a deep bowl filled with half of the sifted flour. Everything is mixed well and combined with vegetable oil.

The resulting dough does not need to be left to rise. It rises in the processkneading and cutting. Therefore, it is immediately laid out on a flat surface and divided into three approximately identical parts. Each piece is rolled out into a circle no more than five millimeters thick and cut into eight sectors. A teaspoon of apple jam is placed on the wide edge, the sides are well fixed and rolled into rolls.

This recipe for lean bagels is as simple as possible. Therefore, it can be easily mastered by a novice hostess who has no experience with yeast dough. Before starting the process, be sure to make sure that your home has all the required products. In this situation, you will need:

  • ¾ cup warm water.
  • A couple tablespoons of sugar.
  • 4 cups white flour
  • Teaspoon fast acting dry yeast
  • 100 milliliters refined vegetable oil.

All this is necessary for kneading the dough. To prepare the filling, you must additionally have in your kitchen:

  • 150 grams of halva.
  • ¼ cup raisins.
  • Table spoonsugar.
  • Pair of ripe apples.
  • ½ cup any nuts.

Cooking algorithm

Pour yeast and half a glass of flour into warm water. Everything is mixed and cleaned in a secluded warm place. After half an hour, the risen dough is combined with the remaining sifted flour, vegetable oil and sugar. All intensively knead until smooth. The resulting soft elastic dough is covered with a clean napkin and left to rise.

Meanwhile, you can prepare three varieties of fillings. Washed and peeled apples are cut into small cubes and sprinkled with sugar. So that they do not darken, it is advisable to sprinkle them with lemon juice.

To get the second filling, steamed raisins and any peeled nuts are passed through a meat grinder. Well, halva mashed with a fork will be used as the third filler.

The risen dough is laid out on the table and kneaded with hands. Then it is divided into three identical pieces. Each of them is rolled into a thin circle and cut into eight sectors. The filling is placed on the wide part and bagels are formed. Products are sent to a baking sheet, kept at room temperature and put in the oven. Lenten bagels are baked at traditional one hundred and eighty degrees for no longer than twenty-five minutes.
